School of the Osage has joined other lake-area schools in putting in place a student drug testing policy that covers alcohol, illegal and/or performance-enhancing drugs. The new policy takes effect with the start of the 2011-12 school year. The goal of the testing is to prevent substance abuse among students, encourage treatment, and maintain an environment that’s safe and healthy. School of the Osage students in grades 7-12 who participate in Missouri State High School Activities Association (MSHSAA) events will be randomly tested throughout the school year along with students in school clubs and who park in school lots. Students who test positive will be excluded from participation in covered activities and clubs and will have their parking passes revoked.
