Attorneys for the companies involved in a deadly duck boat accident on Table Rock Lake want some of the lawsuits against their clients thrown out of court. A motion filed this week asks for at least three of the multiple lawsuits filed by survivors or family members to be dismissed. In their motion, Ripley Entertainment, the company that owns the Branson duck boat operation, says the event was an unforeseeable and unintentional occurrence and that the company has an impeccable safety record. They also say their boats complied with all current Coast Guard regulations. The U.S. Attorney for the Western District has asked a federal judge to halt most of the discovery process on civil suits while they investigate whether criminal charges are justified.
