Two people are dead, including a 12-year-old boy from Eldon, after an alleged wrongway
DWI accident in Miller County. The Highway Patrol says it happened on Highway-54 at
Walnut Grove Road shortly after 11:45 Friday night. Reports indicate that 62-year-old
Carol Elwyn, of Lake Ozark, was driving westbound in the eastbound lanes colliding,
head-on, with a car driven by 17-year-old Dalton Delong of Eldon. Pronounced dead at
the scene were two passengers in the car driven by Delong…12-year-old Dominic
Delong and 38-year-old Travis Davolt both from Eldon. Dalton Delong was seriously
hurt and taken to University Hospital while the alleged wrongway driver, Carol Elwyn,
suffered moderate injuries and was treated at Lake Regional Hospital. Elwyn faces two
felony counts of Involuntary Manslaughter, felony Second-Degree Assault, driving in the
wrong direction and failure to register a motor vehicle. She was taken to the Miller
County Jail and placed on a 24-hour hold pending bond.
