A state Senate committee’s voted to scale back a proposed funding cut for public colleges and universities and raise funding for public school busing. KY3 reports the Appropriations Committee chairman says college and university officials have agreed to try to cut out-of-pocket expenses for students in exchange for the smaller state funding cut. The committee vote would restore $20 million to the core budgets for higher education institutions. That would reduce their budget cut to 4.8% for the next school year. The committee’s adding $20 million to the $98 million that had been proposed for school busing aid.
