People displaced by the tornado in Eldon will be permitted to stay at the community center awhile longer. City officials say the shelter will remain open. This comes after an initial announcement indicated the shelter would be closing Tuesday at noon. KRMS reported on the announcement after we were contacted by a CNA that had been told the news and was concerned for her clients at the shelter. Officials in Eldon now say that was a miscommunication between agencies and the original information was based on an estimation that everyone at the shelter would have been placed in different quarters by then. After KRMS reported on the original announcement, city officials said they never really had plans to close the shelter. Below is an email from the city in which they claim they never made such an announcement.
