A former Eldon resident has received a hero’s welcome home…for his funeral. 54-year-old Thomas Madole was shot and killed in the line of duty last week while working as a Village Public Safety Officer in Manokotak, a rural community in southwest Alaska. His body was returned to Eldon Tuesday afternoon. Mayor Ronald Bly arranged a police escort from the Kansas City International Airport to Phillips Funeral home, led by Missouri State Highway Patrol troopers and Eldon Police officers. Visitation will be held on Friday; services and burial are scheduled for Saturday.
