Some tense moments yesterday in the Eldon school district…According to School Superintendant Matt Davis South Elementary followed safety procedures and went into a lock down after an irate parent called to complain about an issue. The caller said rather than talk on the phone he would come to the school in person to speak with school officials. All of processes were in place to handle the situation as safely as possible for our students. The Eldon Police Department assisted and efficiently to help resolve the situation. At no time were any kids in danger. Davis says the real issue was the gap in communication as far as letting parents know what was happening. He says he is going to consult with school staff on finding the best way to communicate any future lockdown issues to parents in a fast and reasonable way. Davis says first and foremost was the safety of students.
Davis says he immediately sent out a report regarding the incident hoping to reach as many parents as possible. There is no word if the parent who called the school will face any charges. Police are looking into the situation.
