Some property owners, including a new member of the Eldon Board of Aldermen, are filing suit against the city of Eldon. They say the new per door billing structure for water and sewer rates is unfair and discriminatory. The lawsuit, now in Miller County Circuit Court, asks the city to refund overpayments it has received through the Vacant Meter Ordinance and Virtual Meter Ordinances that are in excess of actual costs. Mayor John Holland formed an ad hoc committee to review the situation and make recommendations to the board of aldermen, when the property owners were complaining, but now that the lawsuit has been filed, the committee is disbanding.
