A lawsuit against the city of Eldon last week in Miller County Circuit Court on behalf of a group of property owners upset about the new water and sewer rates. The property owners’ group has been vocal about their opposition to the new billing structure for water and sewer rates – calling it unfair and discriminatory. One of the problems of multi-unit property owners is the new per-door charge. They want the court to order the city “to refund the overpayment’s it has received by virtue of the Vacant Meter Ordinance and Virtual Meter Ordinances that are in excess of its actual costs.” Mayor John Holland formed a committee to review the city’s rate structure and make recommendations to the board of aldermen; but the committee’s been killed by because of the lawsuit.
