It’s election day. Polls will be open until 7pm. In the tri-county lake area, voters will be deciding on several important issues, including a school bond and a number of ballot issues for fire protection districts. Some officials are concerned about voter turnout in an election with a large number of uncontested races. Osage Beach Fire Protection District Chief Jeff Dorhauer is among them.
Osage Beach has a 15-cent levy increase on the ballot. Mid-County and Northwest Fire Protection Districts also have levies increases on the ballot, while Versailles is voting on a sales tax to fund their city fire department. School of the Osage has a $23 million bond issue on the ballot, and Laurie voters will decide on a $1.6 million bond issue for waterlines. Stover is voting on a 1% sales tax.
