We could be close to knowing the cause of a small airplane crash in Osage Beach that killed two people about a year-and-a-half ago. The FAA, this week, released its factual report surrounding the circumstances behind the crash during the early-afternoon hours on October 22, 2016. What is known is that the pilot and his daughter were apparently enroute from Nevada to Pennsylvania when…for reasons unknown…they landed at Lee C. Fine Memorial Airport. An employee of the airport reported making contact with the pilot who responded with a garbled transmission before taking off again a short time later…the engine sounding normal to the employee who went back to his duties. There were no witnesses to the accident with the wreckage discovered in a heavily wooded area. The pilot, who just bought the plane a few days earlier off Ebay, was described as very familiar with aviation and in good physical condition. Weather is not being considered as a possible cause. A final report with the probable cause has yet to be issued by the FAA.
