The FAA has released its preliminary report into the investigation of a small airplane crash in the Osage Beach area leaving two people dead. The single-engine Beechcraft went down during the early-afternoon hours on Saturday, October 22nd, in a heavily wooded area of the State Park near Lee C. Fine Airport. The preliminary report indicates that visual conditions prevailed and the airplane took off from Lee C. Fine without an official flight plan recorded. An employee of the airport saw the plane take off without any apparent problems with the engine sounding normal at take off. The plane then went down a short time later and was discovered by mountain bikers in the area. A final report could still take several weeks to be filed by the FAA.
