Missourians woke up today with a new Governor in place. Mike Parson takes over the reins following the resignation of the embattled Eric Greitens, which took effect at 5pm Friday evening. The Missouri Farm Bureau was among the first to release a statement on the transition, voicing their support for Parson. Farm Bureau President Blake Hurst says Parson will be “an outstanding leader for our state” and that the bureau looks forward to working with him. Hurst’s statement says “we’ve never had a Governor with deeper farming roots or broader agricultural experience.” Parson is a farmer himself, and stated last week that he was working on his farm when he got the call informing him that he would be the next leader of the state.
