The fate of a 2,000-seat amphitheater at Backwater Jack’s in Osage Beach now rests in the hands of the board of aldermen.

Officials with the Planning and Zoning commission voting 5 to 2 in favor of re-zoning the 14-acre parcel of land to allow for the amphitheater, sending it to the board for a final vote.

In addition to the amphitheater, the Prewitt family says they plan to install sound barriers to push sound away from existing residences, as well as a 185-foot buffer around the property.

There would also be a new 300-space parking area included in the project.
