Although mum continues to be the official word in Camden County, reports are surfacing from unconfirmed sources that the Federal Bureau of Investigation is now involved in, what appears to be, some type of a breach in the courthouse. Telephone and internet service in the old and new courthouses plus non-emergency numbers for the sheriff’s department have been out of service since late Monday morning. Sources tell KRMS news that wire-tapping and other invasive internet activities appear to be the main focus behind the investigation. Since the story broke, Camden County’s I-T department has been place on administrative leave. The County Commission has, apparently, held at least one closed meeting, apparently, on the issue Monday and another on Wednesday involving all elected officials. State Statute allows for a 72 hour period before information on any issues acted upon from closed meetings has to be released. That 72 hour time period for the Monday meeting will be late Thursday morning.
