The Federal EPA is granting funds to a town in Maries County, just at the edge of the Lake Region, that’s been dealing with severe water issues.

Officials say they’re throwing a $1 billion investment from the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law to initiate cleanup at the Vienna Wells Site.

The Vienna Wells Superfund Site consists of three contaminated public drinking water wells at a former hat factory.

The funds will be used to implement a soil remedy at the site, so that soil will no longer be a source of PCE contamination impacting the drinking water supply for residents in Vienna.
