The Lake Area Narcotics Enforcement Group and Mid-Missouri Multi Jurisdictional Drug Task Force are going to get a combined half million dollars in grant money from the federal government. The Missouri Department of Public Safety announced yesterday that each group will receive just over $250,000 for drug enforcement operations. The money can be spent on personnel, education, early intervention, records management, or equipment purchases. Statewide, $7.1 million dollars will be given through the federal Edward J. Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grants, with $1.3 million dollars coming from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.
