Fewer Missouri Students Are Defaulting On Student Loans

Fewer students in Missouri are defaulting on student loans.

The U-S Department of Education says Missouri has a lower rate than several neighboring states in the Midwest.

Missouri’s student default rate has dropped from 9.9-percent to 9.7 percent, which ties the national average.

Arkansas has a student loan default rate of 13.2-percent, Kansas at 11.7-percent, Kentucky at 13.9-percent and Oklahoma at 14.2-percent.

The Show Me State now ranks 23 among the 50 states.
