The list is nearly complete as we look at the final two top ten stories of 2015 in the Lake of the Ozarks Region.
Number two, two record floods hit the Lake of the Ozarks. The first occurred in June and July, shutting down the Lake on the busiest weekend of the year, Fourth of July. The Lake levels hit over 662 feet. Just six months later, another historic flood hits the area, causing damage after the elevation of the Lake hit over 664-feet. Cubic Feet Per Second Outflows reached over 104-thousand in the December flood.
Number one is a story that has captivated both Iowa and Missouri, caused one Highway Patrol Sergeant to step down and another to be arrested. The story goes back to May 2014 when 20-year-old Brandon Ellingson of Iowa drowned while in the custody of the Highway Patrol Water Patrol. Then Sergeant Randy Henry blew the whistle on the Patrol in their handling of the case. He stepped down in the fall. Just two weeks ago, upon further investigation, Trooper Anthony Piercy was arrested and charged with Voluntary Manslaughter. He is currently in custody in the Morgan County Detention Center awaiting his first hearing…
