A Camdenton area church is damaged as a result of a fire that broke out Friday afternoon. Camden County Sheriff Tony Helms and Chief Deputy Jimmy Brashear spotted smoke coming from the First Assembly of God church on South Business Route 5 and called 9-1-1. Mid-County Fire District responded with assistance from Osage Beach, Sunrise Beach, and Lake Ozark Fire districts. Heavy smoke and flames were seen coming from the second floor of the building. The downstairs and upstairs lobby areas suffered fire and water damage. The sanctuary received smoke and water damage. It took firefighters around 20 minutes to get the blaze under control. No one was in the building at the time and the fire is not considered to be suspicious.
