Additional information is being released about a fire that killed four children in August at the Compass Pointe Condominiums in Osage Beach. The State Fire Marshal has released its investigation and according to the 87 page document there is still no official cause of the fire. The report indicates the damage was so extensive investigator’s could not determine whether the fire was started by cigarette butts in a can or by electrical wiring from an air conditioning condenser on the condo’s landing. An adult was reportedly in the condo at the time of the blaze when he discovered the fire outside the front door. He told investigators he ran back to get some water but left the door open and when he turned around the fire had spread into the condo. He was able to escape and then tried to return to rescue the children but became disoriented. It’s unclear where the investigation goes from here.
