October is Fire Prevention Month. Several area fire protection districts will be hosting events, distributing information to kids in area schools, and trying to help educate families on ways to be more prepared. One of the tips they’re offering up is to make sure you have a fire escape plan at your home. Draw it up, discuss it, and most importantly, practice it. The plan should include a meeting place for all members of the family to gather at once they’re out of the fire. For more information and tips contact any of your area fire departments.
