Firefighters all around the lake are busy this week spreading the word about fire safety and prevention. It’s National Fire Prevention Week. All the area districts are visiting schools and talking to the general public to give them safety tips and information that could help save their lives.
Chief Joe LaPlant from Sunrise Beach Fire District says they’ll talk to the kids about the dangers of fires, ways to protect themselves in the event of a fire, and how to escape a burning structure.
LaPlant says all families should have an escape plan that they practice regularly. You can learn more at their safety fair this Saturday. It will be held at the station house on Porter Mill Spring Road from 11am until 2pm.
