A Red Flag Warning remains in effect from 10 a.m. this morning to 7 p.m. this evening for strong winds and low humidity.
* Affected area… southeastern Kansas and the Missouri Ozarks.
* Winds… south 25 to 35 mph with gusts up to 45 mph.
* Relative humidity… as low as 20 to 25 percent.
Strong winds, combined with the low humidities and dry fuels will lead to dangerous conditions for outdoor burning. Fire will easily escape control under these conditions and spread rapidly.
A red flag warning means that critical fire weather conditions are either occurring now… or will shortly. A combination of
strong winds… low relative humidity… and warm temperatures will create explosive fire growth potential.
