Two firefighters from Missouri who were killed in the line of duty and another from more than 150 years ago are remembered this weekend. Names added to the Fire Fighters Memorial of Missouri include Jeffery Sanders, of the Mayview District, and Captain John Kemper, of the St. Louis District. Sanders was killed in June, 2017, when a vehicle crashed into a fire truck while Kemper was killed in July, 2017, from injuries sustained while helping to fight a structure fire. The other firefighter, Wells Colton, was killed in an explosion fighting while fighting what went down as the Great St. Louis Fire in June of 1849.
