Another fire started on a no-burn day goes out of control, requiring a response from firefighters. Mid-County Fire says they’ve responded to several fires over the last few days. The latest came Thursday afternoon on State Route BB at High Point Road outside of Montreal. A landowner was burning leaves when the fire got out of control and spread over ten acres. While they were battling the blaze, firefighters found the landowner unconscious within three feet of the flames. They began immediate aid to the patient and used a stokes basket to carry the victim to a waiting ambulance. They brought the fire under control within 45 minutes. You are again reminded to refrain from burning during dry, windy conditions. Thursday was a no-burn day due to high fire danger. If you plan to burn, check daily with your fire protection district to make sure it’s allowed.
