The New Year brought some changes; one of the biggest was a first of its kind. The Benton County commission met for the first time with new commissioner Michelle McLerran-Morgan, the first woman commissioner in Benton County. Morgan’s family isn’t a stranger to the commission though, as her great great father George Hart was the county’s first commissioner. One of their new goals for 2015 is to trim the budget due to the increases in health insurance costs. Morgan says that the county ended the year with $225,000 available, $75,000 less than 2013. At the previous meeting, the commission approved the bid from Warsaw Oil for #2 red diesel for Road District # 2 at a cost of $2.16.
