The first-degree felony assault case against Aaron Michael Fisher, formerly of Brumley, will go to trial. Fisher appeared in custody yesterday in a Laclede County courtroom, on a change of venue from Miller County, with motions to dismiss the case being considered due to double jeopardy and his right to a speedy trial being violated. After the victim’s mother was allowed to make her statements during the hearing, those motions were shot down along with another motion to reduce his bond which is currently $100,000. A previous related case against Fisher, forcible sodomy involving in his five-month-old daughter, was dropped due to his right to a speedy trial being violated leading to the current charge being filed. A pre-trial conference on the felony assault charge is set for March 20th with a jury trial scheduled to begin April 10th.
