Voters in the general election will decide on a number of initiative petitions. Secretary of State Jay Ashcroft has certified five issues that will appear on the ballot in November. Three of the initiatives that have received certification deal with legalizing medicinal marijuana. The differences among the issues lies in the percentage of taxation placed on the drug, who receives benefits from that taxation, and one of the measures affects who can grow and produce marijuana for medical purposes. Two of the initiatives call for constitutional amendments, while the third proposes a statutory change. There’s one initiative to raise the minimum wage. The final issue on the ballot regulates campaign contributions, restrictions on lobbying, and changes to redistricting.
