Flu activity is peaking across the show-me state and right here in the Lake Area. As a matter of fact, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention identifies Missouri as one of seven states in the red representing the highest of 10 influenza activity levels. Through the end of January, in Missouri alone, there have been more than 15-thousand confirmed cases of the flu.
Camden County Health Department Administrator Bee Dampier goes on to say, so far, there have been 138 confirmed cases of Influenza-A and 10 cases of Influenza-B in Camden County. The young and elderly are most likely to come down with the flu. Hand washing and good hygiene are considered the best defenses against becoming a victim of the flu.
