A Camdenton man faces charges after a foot pursuit that ended with injuries to one of the deputies involved. During an attempted traffic stop late Saturday night, Matthew Walton allegedly abandoned his motorcycle and led a Camden County Sheriff’s deputy on a chase across Highway 54 near some storage units. During the chase, Walton allegedly dropped or threw several items in an apparent attempt to get rid of evidence. The deputy says a taser was ineffective, but he was able to eventually catch Walton thanks in part to use of pepper spray. During his attempt to escape, Walton allegedly threw gravel into the deputy’s face. The officer also suffered minor injuries in his attempts to tackle and subdue Walton. Walton is charged with resisting, fourth-degree assault – special victim, and delivery of a controlled substance.
