There is no physical or analytical data available to determine if texting may have played a role in a wreck that claimed three lives in the lake area. According to a forensic reconstruction analysis conducted by the Highway Patrol, a phone recovered from the accident was too badly damaged to retrieve any data. Speculation began soon after the accident in late March as to whether one of the drivers involved may have been texting when the two vehicles collided head-on on Highway 5. 32-year old Amber Metcalf and 33-year old Jessica Brazil were killed in that wreck. Brazil’s two-year old son died from his injuries a few days later.
