A local shelter for abused and neglected horses in the Lake Area reaches a milestone it would rather not have reached…#500. That’s according to Connie Hendrix who says the Missouri Forget Me Not Shelter, in the Linn Creek area, recently took in “Frosty,”a neglected 14-year-old Arabian Cross gelding as the shelter’s 500th horse. Hendricks also says the problems are not always limited to abuse and neglect.
The Forget Me Not shelter is staffed 100-percent by volunteers while funding to operate the shelter comes almost entirely by private donations and fundraising activities. Hendricks will talk more about the shelter when she appears as a guest on “The Ozarks Today” on KRMS beginning at 4:10 this afternoon.
