Former Osage Beach Police Chief David S. Severson has died at age 58. Severson, who retired as chief of police last month, passed away at his home in Osage Beach, surrounded by family, friends and neighbors. Severson began his 31 year career in law enforcement at the age of 21, when he was hired as a rookie police office for the city of Garden Grove, California. In 1978, he joined the Anaheim, California police department as an officer and worked his wat through the ranks to retire in as a Captain in 2002. Seversen and his family moved to Osage Beach in 2004, and was as the Director of Public Safety for the City of Osage Beach the following year. He served in that position until June 30th, when he announced his retirement due to medical reasons. The family will receive friends and community for visitation Thursday, from 2-5pm at the Hedges-Scott Funeral Home in Osage Beach. Burial will be in Fullerton, California.
