Fort Leonard Wood will see a reduction of 700 soldiers this year. The U.S. Army has announced that the 92nd Military Police Battalion will be officially inactivated on October 15h. According to the Sustainable Ozarks Partnership, an organization formed to minimize the impact of base cuts, the move will cost the area around 250 jobs, a population loss of 2,000 people and an economic impact totaling close to $59 million dollars. The organization has been developing a strategy to help offset the impact of the proposed cuts by implementing several things including the improvement of the area’s business climate and quality of life.
