Gas prices keep dropping, and the Lake Area has some of the lowest prices in the country: The average price of a gallon of unleaded regular has dropped about 17 cents over the past three weeks, according to oil industry analyst Trilby Lundberg, who says “The majority of cities we surveyed are already below four dollars.” They’re well below that in the Lake Area, where prices over the weekend were found as low as $3.46/gallon for unleaded regular. That’s just pennies above the price in Jackson, Mississippi, the city with the nation’s lowest average price for gas price, $3.41. Chicago has the highest, $4.29. The nationwide average is $3.74 a gallon.
