On August 2nd, voters will be faced with the choice of whether or not to pass a tax levy to help fund the Gravois Mills Fire Department. Chief Ed Hancock says that there are quite a few things the department does that may have to be cut if that levy doesn’t pass.
Chief Hancock also says, since the firefighter equipment has an end of service life, which means it can no longer be used after a certain number of years, they will need new equipment and without that equipment, they will no longer be able to answer fire calls. The Gravois Fire Protection District is holding a public meeting about the tax levy tonight at G-5 Firehouse on Highway O in Laurie at 7, as well as another meeting on Thursday at G-1 Firehouse on Highway 5 in Gravois Mills at 7.
