More than 170 recently hit the tee boxes at the Robert Trent Jones Golf Course for a good cause – the HK’s Hospital Benefit Tournament. The big winner of the weekend, however, was not one of the golfers but rather the hospital’s Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation Department, the beneficiary of this year’s proceeds. Dane Henry, Chief Executive Officer of the Lake Regional Health System, says the $124,200 in proceeds are earmarked for a new heart monitoring system which will double the number of new patients that can be accepted into the program. Since the beginning of the event 40 years ago, the HK’s tournament has been able to raise more than three-million dollars. The 41st annual is already in the works and on the calendar for June 7-9 of 2019.
