Local law enforcement agencies will be teaming up with the federal Drug Enforcement Administration next weekend for the fourth National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day … an opportunity to clean out your medicine cabinet and safely get rid of expired or unwanted prescription medications. Collection sites in the Lake area include the Osage Beach Police Department, where Sgt, Arlyne Page explains it’s an opportuinity to dispose of the drugs safely and properly:
Tossing them in the trash can allow drugs to get into the wrong hands; flushing them down the toilet can allow them to pollute the groundwater:
Other collection sites in the Lake area will include the Camden County Sheriff’s Office in Camdenton, and City Hall in Laurie. The DEA says three previous Take-Back days resulted in nearly 1 million pounds of prescription drugs turned in nationwide.
