The Fiscal-Year-2019 budget is a case of give and take as Governor Eric Greitens outlines his proposed budget. Speaking at a press conference, Monday, in the state capitol, Greitens’ budget proposal includes increases in funding for infrastructure, education, public safety and programs to protect our children. Taking hits in funding to make that happen includes reductions in spending on higher education institutions, efficiencies in Medicaid spending and other smaller reductions in government spending. K-through-12 education would be in line to receive some $87-million more, more than $162-million extra earmarked for roads and bridges, $25-million for a jobs and infrastructure fund to pay for key projects that will attract jobs, and more than $29-million in new funding for programs assisting the state’s most vulnerable children. The proposed budget summary, which now needs final approval of the General Assembly, can be found here: https://oa.mo.gov/sites/default/files/FY_2019_Budget_Summary.pdf
