State officials have 30 days to craft a plan to improve education about vaping. Governor Mike Parson signed an executive order Tuesday directing the Departments of Health and Senior Services, Elementary and Secondary Education, and Public Safety to develop a statewide campaign. The goals are to educate, warn, and deter the use of vaping devices among young people. Public Safety Director Sandy Karsten says the campaign will include increased efforts to ensure that stores are not selling the devices and products to minors. The use of vaping devices among high schoolers rose by 78% from 2017 to 2018. Nearly 27% of high school and middle school students say they’ve used a vaping device at least once.
