Although Missouri hasn’t been federally declared a disaster area yet, Governor Eric Greitens is working to ensure everything is in place for if and when it is. He has appointed Patrick Baker the state’s Flood Recovery Coordinator. This is the first time a Missouri Governor has made this appointment before being declared a disaster area. Baker says the state is already working across departmental lines to ensure everything that can be done to support recovery and rebuilding is done. Governor Greitens submitted a request for the declaration to President Trump last week and the President has yet to respond.
