Governor Jay Nixon has declared a State of Emergency in response to severe and dangerous weather that hit a large portion of the state yesterday including the KRMS listening area. Nixon declared the State of Emergency as a widespread severe weather system moved across Missouri bringing tornado activity, heavy rain, hail, high winds and flash flooding. Officials say the heavy rain associated with the severe weather led to several water rescues along the flooded streams and rivers. The Governor has also activated the Missouri Sate Emergency Operations Plan which allows state agencies to coordinate directly with local jurisdictions to provide emergency services.
