Governor Parson Meeting With City Leaders To Fight Racism

Speaking during his Tuesday Press Briefing, Parson says the only way the state can come together is by working together.

Governor Mike Parson is set to meet with several city leaders this week, including those in Columbia, to discuss ways to move forward and changes that need to be done.

As far as de-funding the police, he says that’s a bad call.

He says many of those same officers are the ones responding to calls for water rescues, boating incidents, trapped campers and those who are in need.

In the midst of all this, the Merriam-Webster Dictionary is now making a change to their definition of racism, thanks largely to the Show Me State.

A woman in the St. Louis area recently reached out to the dictionary, claiming the current definitions fall short of the systemic oppression certain groups of people experience.

Officials with Merriam-Webster say those changes should be made clear in their next release.
