Grand Glaize Beach in Lake of the Ozarks State Park has been closed again by the state Department of Natural Resources because of elevated E coli bacteria levels. Results of water samples taken Monday indicated bacteria levels higher than those recommended for waters used for swimming. This is the second time this year the beach has been closed due to water quality issues. The other swimming beach in Lake of the Ozarks State Park, Public Beach No. 1, located in Kaiser, remains open.
Missouri State Park beaches at Harry S Truman located in Warsaw, Pomme de Terre’s Pittsburg beach in Pittsburg, St. Joe’s Monsanto Lake beach in Park Hills and Wakonda located in La Grange are also closed. Once tests indicate the bacteria levels are within the standard suitable for swimming, the beaches will reopen.
