Grants and training top the latest report from the Camdenton Police Department. In her report to the Board of Aldermen, Chief Laura Wright says the department has received three ballistic vests as a result of a grant from the Department of Justice. The grant covered 50% of the cost with the remainder coming from a local match. The department has also renewed their membership in LANEG – the Lake Area Narcotics Enforcement Group. Wright says being part of that group provides a valuable resource to the city. A number of officers have recently undergone additional training. Topics included cultural competency, racial profiling, and Glock maintenance. Two officers also attended a class relating to human trafficking and traffic stops.
