A joint investigation by the Camden County Sheriff’s Department and the Lake Area Narcotics Enforcement Group comes to an end with a search warrant being executed and two Greenview residents taken into custody. Captain Chris Twitchel says the search uncovered undisclosed quantities of methamphetamine, marijuana, opioid pills, drug paraphernalia and firearms, at least one of which had been illegally altered. Arrested were 24-year-old Kayla Varney and 39-year-old Michael Varney, both of Greenview. The Varney’s are each charged with two felony counts of possession of a controlled substance and six counts of felony unlawful use of a weapon for possessing a weapon and a controlled substance. Two other charges, misdemeanor possession of marijuana and unlawful possession of an illegal weapon, were also filed against both of the Varney’s. Both were taken to the Camden County Jail and bond was set at $4,000 cash only for Kayla Varney and $8,000 cash only for Michael Varney.
