Grovespring Woman Drowns Attempting to Drive Through Low Water Crossing

The first drowning of the year, statewide, is reported over the weekend. The Highway Patrol says it happened early Saturday afternoon when the vehicle driven by 53-year-old Kristi Yates, of Grovespring, became disabled in a low water crossing in Laclede County. Yates got out of the vehicle and attempted to swim to shore…she was unsuccessful and drowned.
