A poker run held late last week at Lake of the Ozarks will have an impact on military members and their families all across the country. Friday’s event benefitted Heroes Care – an organization that takes care of the needs of families who have a member deployed. They service over 600 outposts in 25 states and have over 3200 volunteers who check on their families weekly. Jon Jerome from Heroes Care says it’s because of events like this poker run that they can provide the services that they do.
The poker run included military members on each boat. This year they came from Whiteman Air Force Base along with veterans from Texas and Georgia. The event sponsored by Performance Boat Center raised over $35,000 this year.
