A Lake Area Representative’s bill regarding property assessment is working its way through the House. Representative Diane Franklin is sponsoring House Bill 632, which states that any property used as both a residence and transient housing should only be assessed as residential property. Many people agree with incoming Camden County Assessor Marty McGuire’s viewpoint on the bill.
Many people in the Lake Area have expressed concerns about the bill being amended to include a pro-rated tax rate. On Thursday, HB 632 was referred to the Rules Committee for Legislative Oversight.
